NOTES FROM THE PRODUCER, written by Pamela Gaye Walker

"What is right artistically can only be attained through feeling [...]. Even if overall construction can be arrived at purely by theory, nevertheless there remains something extra, which is the true spirit of creation [...], which can never be created or discovered through theory, but only suddenly inspired by feeling." Concerning the Spirituality of Art, by Wassily Kandinsky, 1912.

Georgia O'Keeffe read from Kandinsky's book throughout her life. When her sight was gone and she lay too frail to paint, she requested that it be read to her. With Georgia and Alfred, there was a power to move beyond the mundane into the sublime, through a joint passion and respect for each other's art. It is my hope through presenting this piece, that one can learn an enormous amount regarding one's own creative process, the power of expression, and about how all creative endeavors are connected when approached spiritually and with inspiration.

O'Keeffe needed Stieglitz, especially in her time, to elevate her. Clearly in a patriarchy, women need men to help them up. We need each other on equal par for our world to be truly great. O'Keeffe did not see her gender as a limitation as long as her work was on a level that couldn't be denied. The genderless creative spirit is fragile and is not impervious to criticism, however. Georgia may have faltered, but she ultimately prevailed.

Georgia was taught to fill a space in a beautiful way, which is what we have tried to achieve in these two hours. How blessed I was, in putting this piece on stage, to have the inspiration of a team of highly creative people who collaborated amidst incredibly busy lives. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

We depend on you generous souls, as supporters, in order to humbly hone our craft and hopefully what we have to say will touch you or make for a better world in which to live. I invite you to sign our guest list and to share with us your life's passion. I challenge you all, artists, or those of you who are simply brave enough, to live your life artistically and boldly, with expression and spirituality, whether it be at one with nature or with a power higher than yourself. Let inspiration take hold, whatever your outlet may be. Let the beauty of music, and all the arts inspire you. As it did with Stieglitz and O'Keeffe, let art move you- beyond the mundane, and into the sublime. Thank you. We treasure your support.
